July's BGTU outing to the Holston/South Holston/Watauga Rivers was canceled due to lack of interest.
The August trip to the Clinch River has had minimal interest and will also be canceled if more members do not inquire about the trip in the coming weeks.
A new and improved outings schedule will be debuted in the coming months. It will contain roughly four (4) trips for the entire calendar year. If you have any input as to fishing locations you would like to see our chapter include in next year's outing schedule, please let Gene Slusher (geneslusher@yahoo.com) know as soon as possible.
Got a question for you...
If you and your buddies could go anywhere and fish for a weekend or even for just a day, where would you go?
You are being asked this question in order to help our chapter build a stronger outings program. The goal is to compile a solid list of nearby places our members would like to fish, and then find ways to take trips to the most popular submissions. So please take the time to let us know what places you think would be ideal locations for our chapter outings. Any input you wish to provide would be considered and appreciated. Please send your ideas and comments to geneslusher@yahoo.com.
We are also looking for BGTU members who are interested in hosting a small outing at their cabin or farm pond or even the creek behind their house. Opening up your land to a few people for an afternoon of fishing and camaraderie can be a rewarding way to give back to the chapter and a great way to meet a few new fishing friends. If you have a place you would like to share, or simply have questions about this opportunity, we would be happy to work with you to make it worthwhile for all involved.
Please contact Gene Slusher to discuss the details.
Join us for the next fishing outing with our Club! It's a great way to meet other club members, and to find great places to fish!
If you have questions about an upcoming outing, contact our Outings Coordinator, Gene Slusher at: geneslusher@yahoo.com

November 14 - Dix River 9:30 AM Private boat ramp on the Kentucky River below Highbridge
The Dix River is only accessible to the public by boat. So, for this outing, we will be encouraging all participants to bring their own watercraft. There will be a few motorized boats on hand to shuttle those who do not have their own boat, or have not secured a ride with someone else by the time we launch.
It is possible to paddle a canoe or kayak from the launch ramp to the dam, however it takes quite a bit longer and one must account for a couple extra hours of travel time if they choose to go that route. The water from the mouth of the Dix to the dam is primarily flat and easy to paddle, with one area that will likely require a short portage, but it is a scenic trip often traveled by paddling enthusiasts.
Please let Gene Slusher know if you are planning to attend, so that we can attempt to ensure everyone has a way to get up the river to the areas we intend to fish. He can be reached at geneslusher@yahoo.com.
Directions:
From Lexington: Take Harrodsburg Road to Wilmore, veering left at the flashing light onto US 29 (there will be a gas station at the fork in the road where you turn). Stay on this road, passing by Asbury College and through the town of Wilmore until you see Highbridge in front of you (this will be a few miles outside of town). Make a sharp turn to the right onto Lock No. 7 Road , going down a steep hill onto a small windy road (if you go under the bridge, you have just missed the turn). BE CAREFUL on this road. At the bottom of the hill, do not follow the road left, instead go straight and pass through a set of dilapidated stone columns. Take the first left (about 50 feet from the columns) into a driveway and park in the grass after making the loop around the launch ramp.
