On Saturday August 22nd, the Bluegrass Trout Unlimited “First Cast” program was offered to several of the employees of Whitaker Bank at their annual company picnic held at Natural Bridge State Park. TU member and Bank V.P. Ken Wells invited us to be one of the featured activities for the Bank’s employee outing. 

There were two one hour casting sessions during the day with about 20 participants both youth and adult. Several of the younger casters when finished all wanted to know where to purchase fly rods after practicing their skills along the park stream. Whitaker Bank provided all the TU casting instructors with a delicious lunch and the opportunity to join in any of their other activities. 

We greatly appreciated their warm hospitality and the opportunity to work with such an enthusiastic and eager group. The Chapter had a great turnout with 8 volunteers to provide individual attention to each interested caster. “First Cast” also was at the Jacobson Park Bluegrass Chapter picnic working with a number of youngsters on basic fly casting fundamentals.
